First Light

kimi ga kuru to heya ga akaruku naru

kimi wa kizukanai

It arrives without drama and takes no interest in how the night went.

There is no ceremony to it, no announcement, nothing earned.

The grey comes up at the edges at roughly the same rate

whether the last twelve hours were the best or the worst you've had,

and it will do exactly the same thing tomorrow,

its being unremarkable being the whole reason it counts.

which is more than can be said for anything else.
